FOLLOWING A TREND

                                                                               FOLLOWING A TREND

When we look around, we only witness a frustrated world.  Sometimes a peaceful person is ridiculed for not having any ambitions.  Everyone madly runs after a trend.  In that mad run, they forget their own likes and dislikes.  They think that the latest trend has to be followed and they choose it forgetting the fact that a trend may not suit every one.  In this desperate chase, the children are the most affected.  To cope with the society, the children are forced to do anything that is in demand.  Everyone tries to walk on someone else path, because they are incapable of finding their own path.  Many have the fear that if they do not cope up with the society, they will be neglected and isolated.

In the first place, what is a society?  It is we the people who form the society.  If each one of us is perfect, then the society will be perfect.  If each one of us follows the other, then it becomes a trend.  We cannot set a goal by referring to another person’s success.  Other person’s goal may not suit us.  One must have the faith and confidence in their own talent to pursue and experiment with their own way of living.  Failures are common; criticism and hatred always accompany failure.  Therefore, fear for failure has to be neglected.  As said before, most affected by trend are the children.  Every individual have a talent, but some do not know to express it.  It is the duty of the family, friends or teachers to bring the talent to light.  Instead of this, especially children are forced to follow a trend that is popular at that period of time.  If they fail to follow, they are isolated.  More badly than this is, without knowing the meaning of intelligence, they are branded as ‘not-intelligent’.  One of the fields that is badly affected by this trend psychology is education, and that too especially in India.  Without taking their own interest into account, every student is forced to follow the trend in education.  As a result of this, many get stagnated at some level or other.  They may be employed with safe packages, but they lack individuality and their contribution to the field is not up to the mark.  They are also not satisfied with their own profession.  If a person is not satisfied with their own, then they will make their own life as well as the life of others miserable.

In my view, following a trend is good, as far as it is of our same interest and desire.  Trend always brings with it a load of opportunities.  At the same time, if the trend does not suit us in any way, then it is better to neglect the trend.  It is not worth sacrificing our own desires and inner urge for any matter.  After all we are born to satisfy our desires, if that is not satisfied then the unfulfilled desires will haunt us.  This makes one an unmanageable person.

Trend setting does not end with one field of education and profession alone.  It is wide spread.  We blindly follow others in many ways, sometimes without our own knowledge.

If trend can satisfy everyone, then why are we frustrated even after following it?  Satisfaction and fulfillment lies somewhere deep inside each person.  It has to be extracted from inside, and should not be searched outside.
